GOVERNING FOR GOOD

Interested in fighting the fringe, conquering the chaos, and preserving good governance? Join us. Governing for Good supports members of Congress and candidates who value results over rhetoric.

If more representatives in Congress conducted themselves like Governing for Good members and candidates, the Democratic Party, the Republican Party, and the country as a whole, would be better off. These men and women represent the best of our country. We need them to stay and fight, and we need more of them, a lot more.

2024 PRIORITY RACES

Conquering Chaos, Fighting the Fringe

  • GEORGE LATIMER (D-NY)

Primary: June 25 - Closed Registration

    Chaos: Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-NY)

    2023 Cook PVI: D+20

It’s time to replace Justice Democrats-endorsed Squad member Jamaal Bowman with a veteran public servant who can deliver results and respect for NY-16’s constituents, rather than misdemeanor charges and divisive rhetoric.

  • JERRY SONNENBERG (R-CO)

Primary: June 25 - Open to Unaffiliated

    Chaos: Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO)

    2023 Cook PVI: R+13

After narrowly winning re-election in 2022, Lauren Boebert opted to run from her constituents in the 3rd district and seek refuge in the 4th. Republicans should instead choose lifelong resident, rancher, and solid conservative Jerry Sonnenberg.

  • WESLEY BELL (D-MO)

Primary: August 6 - Open to All

    Chaos: Rep. Cori Bush (D-MO)

    2023 Cook PVI: D+27

Cori Bush proudly votes against commonsense legislation, opposes our allies, and now finds herself under DOJ investigation. Wesley Bell, civil servant and son of a police officer, has pledged to “work on a bipartisan basis” to get results for St. Louis.

  • DON SAMUELS (D-MN)

Primary: August 13 - Open to All

    Chaos: Rep. Ihan Omar (D-MN)

    2023 Cook PVI: D+30

In 2022, Don Samuels ran a quiet yet principled campaign against Omar, only to lose by two percentage points in the primary. With some national attention on this important race, he can give MN-5 the new leadership they deserve.

Unlike party leaders in Washington, D.C., we firmly believe the American people benefit when general elections consist of the best Democrat facing off against the best Republican — to that end, there may be times we endorse candidates of each party for the same general election. If they both win their respective primaries, this falls under the category of “good problems to have.”

Open Seats, Endless Opportunities

  • Candidate Peter Meijer (R-MI)

 Frequently Asked Questions

  • No red team or blue team here, no vote scoring for special interests, no books to sell. Character counts – and while bipartisanship is great, if a member of Congress also questions institutions and democracy, spouts divisive language, or has a voting record incompatible with common sense values, we’ll focus our efforts elsewhere.

  • It would be nice to have equal representation, but courage is rarely exhibited evenly across party lines. We won’t force an endorsement just for the sake of balance – bold leadership is what we support, period.

  • For incumbents, courage comes in all shapes and sizes, but Members of Congress in crossover districts (Republicans in a Biden district, for example), and those with a low Cook Partisan Voting Index (PVI) and Lugar Ranking typically stand out from the pack.

Similarly, Members of the Problem Solvers Caucus, New Democrat Coalition, Blue Dog Coalition, Main Street Caucus, and Republican Governance Group tend to be part of the governing wing in the U.S. House.

While good indicators, these factors alone are not a guarantee of support, but are certainly taken into consideration for an endorsement, in addition to public statements, voting records, and political dynamics.

You can learn more about Cook PVI and the Lugar Index on their websites below, as well as an explainer of crossover districts (and their historically low level) via UVA’s Center for Politics.

  • We know this is important to many people. It is to us too. Members of Congress who did not certify the 2020 election results, or candidates who deny the outcome, will never be endorsed by Governing for Good. We thank the Republican Accountability Project for their insights, which we reference frequently.

  • We’ll let the FEC explain:

Super PACs are independent expenditure-only political committees that may receive unlimited contributions from individuals, corporations, labor unions and other political action committees for the purpose of financing independent expenditures and other independent political activity. The committee will not use those funds to make contributions, whether direct, in-kind or via coordinated communications, to federal candidates or committees.

And yes, Super PACs are legally required to disclose donors.

We ask sitting and aspiring Congressional leaders to stand up and put their country first, so we are encouraged that our supporters have chosen to stand with them, proudly and publicly.

  • Efficiently. Every district and campaign is different. If ads have the best ROI, we will run ads. If it’s mailers, we’re sending them. If it’s door-knocking, we’ll be there in person.

  • We support those who value governing and everything it takes to do so: problem-solving, legislating, and not letting perfect be the enemy of the perfectly fine.

Governing for good – for the benefit of all American people, the only special interest that matters. But also for good – forever, because we need the 250-year American experiment in democracy to endure.
